Lanzador: Lamborghini Unveils Its First Futuristic High-Performance EV

At Monterey Car Week, Lamborghini has finally unveiled its first electric car, the Lanzador. According to Lamborghini, the concept was developed as a high-ground GT with 2+2 seats — hence why it looks like a supercar on top of an SUV.

Lamborghini’s first electric supercar includes an unprecedented onboard experience that stays true to the brand’s DNA while offering a glimpse into the future.

According to the company, the Lanzador will create a unique driving experience that will satisfy technically-minded customers. Lanzador combines Lamborghini’s super sports car performance with everyday versatility to create a unique driving experience.

In developing this EV, design elements were taken from the Revuelto, Urus, and spacecraft and combined into an EV that does it all. The trunk is hidden under the short front bonnet, and the glass tailgate opens wide. Adjustable rear seats allow the EV to adapt to most situations.

The Lamborghini Lanzador will have a high-power electric motor on each axle with a more than 1-megawatt peak output. In addition, the AWD system is equipped with e-torque vectoring on the rear axle to easily handle cornering and other dynamic driving situations. Energy is supplied by a new generation high-performance battery that enables long-distance driving.

Lamborghini asserts that the essence of the Lanzador lies in its software and control systems rather than its impressive hardware specifications.

The interior layout is designed to make you feel like a pilot, with a sports steering wheel, bucket seats and dual digital screens for active control. One screen is for the instrument panel in front of the driver, and the other is a retractable entertainment system for the front passenger.

The newly developed Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) driving dynamics control system provides even more detailed and precise driving. Aerodynamics also play an important role, and the EV is equipped with the ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) system used in the Huracán Performante and Aventador SVJ to optimize efficiency. Thanks to its active chassis, Lanzador fine-tunes itself to the driving situation and adapts to the optimum driving style.

The Lanzador is Lamborghini’s first all-electric vehicle and is slated to go into production in 2028. It will be the fourth model in Lamborghini’s lineup, joining Revuelto, Huracán and Urus.

Lamborghini plans to electrify its entire lineup by the end of 2024, including the Huracan PHEV and Urus PHEV, due next year.
